Are you in a rut and trying to figure out how to improve your business? Every so often it’s a good idea to take a breather and think about something Warren Buffett said. No he’s not perfect and he’d be the first to tell you that. But, he’s got a pretty good track record for doing alright.
Consider this thought: “It is not necessary to do extraordinary things to get extraordinary results.” Hardly original but profound.
Need a concrete example to get started; how about Toyota. Their cars were terrible when they started. Now they are noted for their reliability. In fact they’ve done so well that they have a sizable chunk of the US market as well as other markets around the world.
They did not accomplish that in a year or two. They learned from their many mistakes and slowly improved by fixing one problem at a time, no matter how little, and repeated that for decades. The results speak for themselves.
It’s a good lesson for any business whether you’re listening to Warren or looking at companies like Toyota. Look at your business and start improving things. A better process here, automate something there and before you know it, your business is in a much better position for long term success.
Onward and Upward!
