Refreshing Your Store : Part 2

We speculated that Target’s numbers would get better as more stores were updated and the improved shopping experience spread through the chain and, in fact, that is exactly what’s happening!

Target reported in August that same-store sales were now up 6.5% in the second quarter versus the prior year. Traffic to the stores was also up 6.4% which is the biggest increase since 2008 when they started reporting that metric.

Target’s CEO, Brian Cornell,  was on CNBC and said, “As we go back and look, we’ve never seen traffic growth like this.” Normally, CEOs on the financial network try to be a little more restrained to keep everyone calm so we can probably assume that those numbers really were historically good for them.

Although store fixtures and remodeling are not something we do at AZ Retail Supplies, we do think it’s important for any store to keep up on. We will stick to selling consumables for your store but we definitely recommend that you don’t forget to keep your stores refreshed to maintain your businesses health. And that’s important whether you’re a single location store or an international retailing giant!
